RUSHVILLE — Russell Gene Winton, 81, of Shelbyville, died Dec. 17, 2012.

Born Sept. 17, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Carl Russell and Bertha Agnes (McDaniel) Winton, both deceased. He married Leona Mae Dec. 31, 1955; she preceded him in death July 2, 2011.

Mr. Winton lived his entire life in this area. He was self-employed. He attended Fairland School and Theocratic Ministry School. He attended the Shelbyville congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Russell lived his faith, cherished his bride of 55 years, worked hard for his family and valued his friends.

Survivors include sons, Gerald (Sharmaine) Winton of Brooklyn, N.Y., Stephen Winton of Indianapolis and Dwain (Tracey) Winton of Shelbyville; daughters, Rhondalyn (Mike) Smith of Lebanon, Anna Yazel of Mays and Sarah Nepomuceno (Arturo) of Staten Island, N.Y.; a sister, Mildred Smith of Morristown; and seven grandchildren, Allen (Alexis) Lowman, Alexander Winton, Connor Winton, Joshua Winton, Grant Yazel, Cole Yazel and Lauren Winton.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Petty) Adkins; and a son, Timothy Winton.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at Shelbyville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 224 N. Knightstown Road, Shelbyville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
