Lowell G. Monroe, 87

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Lowell G. Monroe, 87, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Rushville.

He was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Rushville to the late Charles Edgar and Addie (Kephard) Monroe. Lowell was a 1944 graduate of Milroy High School. He married Huguette Kuchenbuch May 10, 1947; she survives.

Lowell retired from Visteon Ford in Connersville where he worked in assembly. He was a member of Main Street Christian Church for 60 years. Lowell served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of Rushville American Legion # 150 and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.

In addition to his wife, Huguette, of Rushville, Lowell leaves behind two sons, Gene and wife Judy Monroe of Rushville and David Monroe of Rushville; daughter, Patricia and husband Kenny Thurston of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the mortuary. Rev. Sam Davenport and Pastor Michael Smith will preside. Rush County Honor Guard will conduct services. Burial will be in Rushville East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Christian Church.
