Lucille B. Arnold Eble, 100

RUSHVILLE — Lucille B. Arnold Eble, 100 years young, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 2007.

She was born Dec. 20, 1911, in Rush County, one of six children to James and Ruth (Julian) Haselby and was a graduate of Rushville High School; also, she took various college classes in bookkeeping and accounting.

On Dec. 20, 1930, she was married Edwin Arnold in Rush County and they owned and operated a farm since 1932 in Fayette County in the Falmouth area. Mr. Arnold passed away June 26, 1977.

On Nov. 16, 1980, she married a high school classmate, Sylvan Eble of Jackson County. Mr. Eble died in 2003.

She was a school bookkeeper for many years: first, at Fayette Central, then, she moved to the Shipley Building in the Central Office and, finally, was the bookkeeper at the Vocational School.

An eighty-two year member of Fairview Christian Church, where she had served as Sunday School treasurer for many years, she also enjoyed cooking, baking and traveling. Additionally, for a time, she was the secretary of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two children, Mona Lee Hyatt and her husband Leland of Big Springs, Texas and Terry Arnold and his wife Anna of Falmouth; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Arnold; two brothers, Dallas and Wallace Haselby; a sister, Winona Leland, all of Florida; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Arnold in May 1985; a sister, Beatrice Winkler; a brother, James Haselby; and an infant granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Powell officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. They may also visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com.
