Dale Francis Knecht, 63

RUSHVILLE — Dale Francis Knecht, 63, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Reid Hospital in Richmond after a courageous, seven-month battle with cancer.

Dale was born Oct. 2, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to William Francis “Frank” and Fern Mildred (Baney) Knecht. He moved to Brookville as a child where he attended St. Michael’s School and graduated from Brookville High School in 1967. He attended St. Michael’s Church where he was an altar boy.

He served in the US Army from 1969 to 1971 where he was stationed in Germany and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of American Legion Post #77 of Brookville as well as Voiture 1040 in Connersville.

He worked at D & M Manufacturing from 1967 to 1994 and its predecessors. He also worked at Randall Textron in Greensburg, Kemper Cabinet and Carpenter Bus Co., both in Richmond; at the latter, he was a night supervisor until its closing. For the past 11 years, he worked at H & E Machine in Connersville. He was known as a hard worker who gave 110 percent. He also helped with his wife’s painting and wallpaper business and whomever needed a hand.

Dale enjoyed playing cards and all-out decorating for the holidays, especially his unique Halloween Museum. He loved to play pranks and enjoyed seeing and making people laugh.

Besides his wife of 30 years, Connie Sue (nee Griffith), whom he married July 3, 1982, he is also survived by his children, Angela Renee Marshall, Tina and Billy Ford, Trisha and Nathan Toler, all of Connersville, Nathan and Theresa Karn of Prudenville, Mich.; and 10 grandchildren.

Also surviving is his mother, Fern, formerly of Brookville; sisters, Marsha (Joel) Nathan of Wheaton, Ill., Jackie (Robert) Fox of St. Leon; brother, Steven C. (Barb) Knecht of Rushville; and his mother-in-law, Delsie Griffith of Connersville.

He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends, whom he considered his extended family. He will be deeply missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, who passed from this life in 1998.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. They may also visit anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com
