William Eugene Hamm, 80

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — William Eugene Hamm, 80, of Wadesville and formerly of Rushville, passed away Jan. 21, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 24, 1932 in Bloomington, the son of the late Ertie Hamm and Hollace and Leatha Lucille Jackson. He married Ruth Ann (deVries) Hamm who preceded him in death.

Bill was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Indiana University. He was a retired school teacher, having taught in Knightstown, New Salem and Rushville Consolidated High School in Rushville. He attended Faith Bible Church in Evansville.

Survivors include his sister, Sue Terrell of Bloomington; five children, Steve (wife Rie) Hamm of Japan, Doug (wife Jani) Hamm of Wadesville, Bruce (wife Jody) Hamm of Cartersville, Ga., Mark (wife Linda) Hamm of Fishers and Gretchen (husband Dan) Honeycutt of Indianapolis; and 12 grandchildren.

Military honors and graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 in Rushville East Hill Cemetery (Section 17).
