Norma Jeanne Nelson Jacoby, 86

RUSHVILLE —  

Norma Jeanne Nelson Jacoby, 86, former resident of Rush County, passed away May 31, 2010 in Overland Park, Kansas, where she had resided with her son, Steve, for six months. Norma was born Jan. 27, 1924 in North Vernon to Herman and Addie (Hughes) Southerland, both deceased. She married Lowell D. Nelson on June 10,1944 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She married Donovan H. Jacoby in 1982 and he preceded in death on Dec. 3, 2001. Norma spent her early life in Rush County. She was graduated from Rushville High School in the Class of 1942. She spent 20 years in Ft. Myers, Fla. She was a past member of Arlington Christian Church. She leaves behind three sons, Steve Nelson (and wife, Patty) of Overland Park, Kansas, Lowell Thomas Nelson (and wife, Anne) of Dallas, Texas and Tim Nelson (and wife, Dayna) of West Chester, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mrs. Charles (Sally Jane) Hodgkinson of London, England, Jeff and Jenny Nelson of Dallas, Texas, Rachel Nelson of West Chester Ohio and Adam Nelson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; two step grandchildren, Tim Schultz (and wife, Michelle) and David Schultz (and wife, Jenny) of Overland Park, Kansas; and five great-grandchildren, Samatha, Eric and Tyler Nelson of Overland Park, Kansas, and Isis and Rex Hodgkinson of London, England. In addition to her husbands and parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Everoad. A graveside committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at Arlington East Hill Cemetery with Pastor Clyde McCammack officiating. The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to the hospice of the giver's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Moster Mortuary, Rushville.
