Nina L. (Powell) Summan, 92, of Bentonville, died Dec. 3, 2009.

Born Nov. 26, 1917 south of Bentonville on a farm that has been in her family since 1833, she was the daughter of Homer and Ruby Dickey Powell, both deceased. She married Frank C. Summan July 26, 1937; he preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1988.

Mrs. Summan lived within two miles of Bentonville her entire life. She was a 1935 graduate of Bentonville High School. She was a homemaker and member of the Posey Township Homemakers Club, having served in every office; a charter member of the Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary; Historic Connersville; and a member of Bentonville Christian Church since 1941. At one time she was the owner of the first candy molding business in Fayette County.

Survivors include children, Kenneth (Pat) Summan of rural Connersville and Suellen K. “Suzy” (Tom) Revalee of Bentonville; granddaughters, Ann (Eric) Graef of Fishers and Amy (Tony) Weber of Indianapolis; one great-granddaughter; step grandchildren, Mary (Jeff) Case and Greg Revalee of Connersville and Angela (Grant) Newton of Indianapolis; and two step great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carl James Powell.

A private funeral service will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Bentonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Bentonville Fire Department, Bentonville Christian Church or the Fayette County Historical Museum.
