John J. Consolino, 90


John J. Consolino, 90, of Rushville, died Dec. 30, 2009.

Born April 24, 1919 in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of Francisco and Rose (Denaro) Consolino, both deceased. He married Catherine L. Ponsler July 7, 1946; she preceded him in death Oct. 21, 1995.

Mr. Consolino was retired from the Rushville Republican after 23 years of service as a printer. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a sergeant in the 96th Anti Aircraft Coast Artillery in the Pacific Campaign during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He was an original member of the Rushville Civil Defense Police Department and Red Cross for 25 years. He was most proud of helping bring Little League Baseball to Rushville.

Survivors include sons, Frank A. Consolino of Hershey, Pa. and Joseph D Consolino of Naples, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with the Rev. William Turner officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.
