Urban F. Blankman, 78, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born March 1, 1928 in Millhousen, he was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Naderman) Blankman, both deceased. He married Agnes Hartman July 22, 1953; she preceded him in death October 1993.
Mr. Blankman was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a floor covering specialist. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg where he served as an usher for 40 years. He was also a member of Knights of St. John in Millhousen.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald Blankman (and wife Anita) of Westport, Alvin Blankman of Batesville and Keith Blankman (and wife Jazmin) of Lawrenceburg; seven daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Glenn) Gosnell of Vevay, Anita (Mrs. Dale) Oliver of Batesville, Karen Dwiggens of St. Paul, Shirley (Mrs. Tim) Wamsley of Westport, Joann (Mrs. Michael) Sexton of Greensburg, Wanda (Mrs. John) Ploeger of Greensburg and Laura (Mrs. Freddy) Argotte of Lebanon; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Alfred Blankman, and one sister, Mary Scheidler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greensburg. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
