L. Mike “Frog” Smith, 65

RUSHVILLE — L. Mike “Frog” Smith, 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Feb. 13, 2013.

Born March 3, 1947, in Rushville, he was the son of Clarence and Leone (Smith) Smith. He married Nancy Trout July 28, 1979; she survives.

Mr. Smith lived in this area most of his life, but had also lived in Florida. A master carpenter, he worked for several construction companies over the years including 16 years with Gary Gulley Construction. He retired in 2002. He was a member of ABATE of Indiana and a former member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting and motorcycles. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching sports on TV.

Survivors include his wife; four sons and six daughters, Brian (Roxanna) Smith of Lafayette, Joseph (Heather) Waychoff of Tennessee, Sandy Posz of Shelbyville, Wendy (Brook) Mount of Rushville, Michelle (Jason) Green of Tennessee, Jerry “Jay” (Twyilla) Petty of Morristown, Annie (Ted) Williams of Shelbyville, Steven (Lisa) Shepard of Shelbyville, Teaki Markley of Shelbyville and Stormy (Josh) Jiminez of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Dora Mae (Owen) Bruce of Tennessee; and 36 grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Smith; and a son, Jimmy Shephard.

A memorial service will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Leon M. “Frog” Smith Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.
