Joseph Myron Hood, 82, of Indianapolis and formerly of Mays, died Feb. 5, 2010.
Born Sept. 8, 1927 in Rush County, he was the son of Anthony and Lena (Wench) Hood, both deceased. He married Rhoda Bourquen May 25, 1949; she survives.
Mr. Hood was born in Gings and lived most of his life in Indianapolis; he retired in Mays. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Moran Electric after more than 30 years. He was a member of Center Christian Church, I.B.F.W. #481, Whitewater Railroad Association, Blue River Cruisers, Richmond Historic Museum, Indiana Live Steamers Association and Rushville Pioneer Engineers Club.
Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Richard (Peggy) of Winston Salem, N.C., Dave of Indianapolis, and Jeff of Indianapolis; daughters, Karen (Dr. Creig) Lobdell of Springfield, Mo., Cathy Linder, RN, of Greenwood and Vickie (Vern) Acton of Camby; brothers, Roman (Donna) Hood of Rushville, Eddie (Martha) Hood of Rushville; sisters, Mary Hartsler of Rushville, Roberta Rebiskie of Alma Kansas; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with the Rev. Jeremy Lobdell and Joshua Lobdell officiating. Burial will be in Rush County’s Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
