Ivan J. Brown, 76, of Shelbyville, died Feb. 8, 2010.
Born March 23, 1933 in Rush County, he was the son of Dora and Leona Madge (Lewis) Brown, both deceased. He married Mary C. Phares April 5, 1959; she survives.
Mr. Brown worked for 30 years at Allisons/GM in Indianapolis. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of Milroy Free Will Baptist church, Local #933 UAW, American Legion #0777 in Indianapolis and was a 1952 graduate of Rushville High School. He spent his early life in Rushville and had been in Shelbyville since 1973.
Survivors in addition to his wife include son, Andrew J. (Tonya) Brown of Waldron; and grandson, Jacob Brown.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lowell Brown and Ronald Yoder, and sister, Evelyn Floyd.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with the Rev. Clarence Lee officiating. Burial will be in Shelby County's Miller cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
