Harold “Pete” Milbourn, 73, of Muncie, died March 14, 2010.
Born May 29, 1936 in Rush County, he was the son of Carl and Ella Jane Milbourn, both deceased. He married Vivian Jane Dunigan Oct. 10, 1954; she survives.
Mr. Milbourn was a 1954 graduate of New Salem High School. He attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, joined the Rushville Police Department in 1959 and transferred to Ball State University in 1961. He retired in 1982. After retiring from BSU, he served as a rural mail carrier, working out of the Daleville Post Office. He was a member of Cowan Christian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder and chairman of the board. Pete was a Past Master of Muncie Lodge #433 F.&A.M.;, a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Michael (Terri) Milbourn of Daleville, Timothy (Susan) Milbourn of Tucson, Ariz. and Daniel (Brenda) Milbourn of Connersville; grandchildren, Brittany, Kyle, Aaron and Amanda Milbourn; one step grandson, Corby (Diane) LaChat; and two step great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful brother-in-law to Jane’s sisters, Linda, Kathy, Penny, and Pam. They all looked to him as a dad as he helped to raise them all.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Milbourn; and one sister, Gladys Milbourn.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel in Muncie with Pastor Matt Todd and the Rev. Robert Kellems officiating. Burial will follow in Muncie’s Tomlinson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. A Masonic service will take place at 7 p.m.
