Louise Kuykendall, 92

RUSHVILLE — Louise Kuykendall, 92, of Rushville, passed away Nov. 29, 2012 at her home.

She was born March 10, 1920 in Fishersburg to Sidney A. and Bessie (Hacker) Minor.  

Louise married Archie Ellis March 19, 1938; he preceded her in death June 12, 1987. She married Ralph Kuykendall June 3, 1989; he preceded her in death April 12, 2007.

Louise lived in the Raleigh area from 1956 until 1993. She had resided in Rushville since that time.

Louise worked on the family farm with her husband, Archie. She also worked at Delco-Remy in Anderson in the 1940s, was assistant manager at Lords Dress Shop in Rushville from 1958 to 1965, worked at Schnadig Corp. from 1965 to 1982 and for many years baked and made various candies in her home. She was a member of Rushville Church of Christ and the United Brethren in Lapel. Louise was past secretary of the Raleigh Community Club, past chief of the Knights of Pythias in Knightstown, past Maharane’ of the Tama Shrine Guild in Greensburg, past officer of the OES-Knightstown where she held several star points, member of the Always Welcome Home Ec Club in Center Township, the Democratic Women’s Club, Mays Study Club and Red Hat Societies in Rushville and New Castle. Louise was an award winning crocheter.

She is survived by her daughters, Sydney (Luther) Snedegar of Raleigh and Le’Ann Gibbons of Bloomingdale, Ohio; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and both husbands, Louise was preceded in death by a son, Russell E. Ellis; two sisters; a son-in-law, James Gibbons; and a grandson.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit from 3 until time of service that same day. Jerry Holdman will preside. Cremation will follow service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospitals.
