RUSHVILLE — Richard “Dick” Wayne Chandler Sr. passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at his residence.

At age 69, Richard lost his battle against lung and heart disease. He joins both parents, Paul Edward Chandler and Mildred Louise Kemp up above.

Born March 9, 1943, Richard was the second of five children; Eva/Frank White (California), Mike Chandler (Indiana), Doyle/Paula Chandler (Indiana), Cathy/Don Jacobs (California).

Richard met his wife, Wanda, while in school. They were married June 1, 1963. Surrounding Richard are his three children; Tina/Art Gladstone (California), Richard “Bub”/Kari Chandler (California) and Kimberly/Greg Minster (California). Blessed with seven grandchildren; Kristan, Richard “Bubba,” Jeremy, Britny, Chelsea, Christopher and Jessica. Double blessed with five great-grandchildren; Wyatt (9), Gavin (5), Madison (4), Ryan (1 month) and Adeline (due any day).

Couldn’t ask for a better dad. Sure, we got our butts spanked; he would say “it hurts me more than its going to hurt you.” At the time I couldn’t figure that one out. It was pretty painful on the backside. Him working long hours, dealing with three kids, bills ... the list goes on. Still, he would find time to make you laugh. We didn’t have a lot of money, but in my eyes, we were rich. Sure, the dollar was hard to get, but he managed to provide for all of us. As the years went on my relationship with Dad changed, I found a new best friend.

Dad always told you what he was thinking. Sometimes you didn’t want to hear it, but he made sure you did. I’m still listening, Dad.

Richard and family moved to California in 1987. Started work for the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1987 as building/grounds foreman. Richard enjoyed and loved working with the “sisters.” Retired in 2010 due to health issues. Richard loved his family! Adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Richard was always there for his family!

Resided at 3720 Goat Ranch Road, Lake Isabella, CA 93240 with wife, Wanda.

Service will be held at 6048 Lake Isabella Blvd., Lake Isabella, CA 93240. A celebration of life will follow at Richard’s residence. Cards and wishes can be sent to his residence.
