Sara Gibbs, 71

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Sara Gibbs, 71, of Rushville, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 in Indianapolis.

She was born Sept. 14, 1941 in Fayette County to John Henry and Mary Pauline (Gabbard) Little.

Sara lived her early life in Rushville, graduating from Rushville High School in 1959. She married James A. Gibbs Dec. 5, 1959; he preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2009. She spent many years in Franklin County before moving back to Rushville in 2008.

Sara worked at the old Danner’s store in Rushville and at H. Allan Hawkins. She worked as a foreman at Schnadig Corp. from 1971 to 1988 and retired from Pilkington in Shelbyville in 2008, working there since 1991.

Sara is survived by her sons, Ronald D. Gibbs (and companion Arlene Sanchez) of Springfield, Mass. and Donald G. (and wife Melissa) Gibbs of Rushville; sisters, Irene (and husband Cai) Rubin and Deloris Butts, both of Wyoming, Mich.; grandchildren, Jessica, Rylee, Hayden and Aryanna; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Sara was preceded in death by brothers, Fred, Herman and James Little; and a sister, Joyce Halberstadt.

Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Graveside service and burial will be in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9.
