Richard E. Rogers, 77

Rushville Republican

RUSHVILLE — Richard E. Rogers, 77, of Rush County, passed away Jan. 24, 2013 at Spring Hurst Health Campus in Greenfield.

Dick was born May 5, 1935 in Rush County, the son of the late John Harlan and Raolia May (Somers) Rogers. He married Edna Jane Hosdon in 1955 and she preceded him in death in 1994.

He was a 1953 graduate of Mays High School and attended Purdue University. He was a lifelong Rush County farmer and a member of Center Christian Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Susan Rogers of Rushville and Beverly (Robert) Varness of Juneau, Alaska; two sisters, Barbara Butcher of Bloomington, Phyllis Rogers Campbell of Knightstown; two grandchildren, Bobbi Ann Meek of Arizona, Carly Jane Boddy of Alaska; three great-grandchildren, Layla, Rylee and Zander Meek of Arizona.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with Pastors Sam Stone and Bill Worrell officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org).
