RUSHVILLE — Alma L. Bailey, 81, a longtime Rushville resident, passed away Feb. 8, 2013 at her home in Rushville.

She was born Sept. 22, 1931 in Decatur, Ill. to William F. and Emma B. (Schimanski) Luka.

Alma spent her early life in Decatur, Ill. She had been in Rushville since 1978.

Alma graduated in 1949 from Macon High School in Illinois. She married John L. Bailey Oct. 25, 1953. John preceded her in death Feb. 9, 2001. She and her husband co-owned Coast to Coast Hardware in Rushville from 1978 to 1998. She was a very active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Helpful Hints Homemakers Club and the Arlington Widow’s Group.

She is survived by her sons, Michael A. and wife Theresia Bailey of Rushville and John T. Bailey and longtime companion Chris Goddard of Lake Santee; brothers, Paul E. Luka of Thomasville, Ga., Raymond E. and wife Pat Luka of Blue Mound, Ill., and Fred E. & wife Margo Luka of Stilesville; sisters, Bertha “Betty” Wall of Decatur, Ill., Mary Pruss of Wenatchee, Wash. and Helen Entler of Decatur, Ill.

Besides her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rushville with Rev. Larry Dimick presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will be in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rushville.
