Richard E. Oberman, 82

RUSHVILLE — Richard E. Oberman, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Feb. 11, 2013.

Born March 22, 1930 in Seymour, he was the son of Fred and Josephine (Breckenridge) Oberman. He married Ramona Vickrey May 31, 1953; she preceded him in death April 20, 2005.

Mr. Oberman lived in this area his entire life. A meat cutter, he had worked at Marsh, Kroger and the Jay C store. He and his wife also owned and operated a tax service from their home for several years and he had worked at GE Wire Mill. He was a graduate of Seymour High School and attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Shelbyville Senior Citizens Center and was active in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He enjoyed eating out with friends at Bob Evans, Wendy’s or the hospital. He enjoyed spending time with family and his grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Vicki (Delbert) Frazier of Rushville; sons, Jim (Kim) Oberman of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Chuck (Debbie) Oberman of Shelbyville; special friend, Anna Marie Ray of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his step mother, Anna (Tohrmellen) Oberman; a granddaughter, Ambrosia Oberman; brothers, Fred and Ed Oberman; an infant sister Betty; sister, Leona Darlage; and grandson-in-law, Charles Goodrich.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville with Pastor Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Memorials are requested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the ACS Relay for Life or St.Mark’s Lutheran Church.
