Milroy Monday Study Club meeting

RUSHVILLE — Milroy Monday Study Club members met Oct. 22, at the home of Nancy Leising. President Eleanor Columbe presided and the minutes and financial report were given by Barb Stiers.

A brief business meeting was held. Milroy Monday Study Club will send a memorial to the Milroy Christian Church in memory of Martha Cole who has been a member of the Milroy Monday Study Club.

Barbara Powers presented an interesting program on her trip to Mt. Rushmore and the Bad Lands area. Some highlights of the trip were Mt. Rushmore, Custard State Park, the mountain carving of Crazy Horse, a buffalo roundup, 1880 train ride in the mountains, Rapid City bus tour and the Journey Museum.

Nine members responded with brief readings or reports of their own choosing.

The meeting closed and delicious fall refreshments were served by the hostess Nancy Leising.

The next Milroy Monday Study Club will meet Nov. 26. Members will meet at the Milroy Christian Church parking lot at 6:30 p.m. to carpool to the meeting and program that will be held at the Decatur County Historical Museum. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

    The Jivin Jackson 4-H Club met June 11 at the Jackson Township Community Building for prejudging and their last regular meeting before the Rush County Fair. Garret Sammons, secretary called the meeting to order with John Alexander leading the American pledge and Kylee Macy leading the 4-H pledge.

  • Noble Niters meet

    The Noble Niters met May 29 at New Salem Methodist Church Ed building. Fifteen members and four guests attended. Linda Murphy read “Graduation” for inspiration. She also gave a report on “How to Buy Bliss.” The members discussed plans for Achievement Night in October.
