Milroy Research Literary Club met Sept. 11
Milroy Research Literary Club met Tuesday evening at the home of JoAnn Brees. President Brees opened the meeting by reading a poem "Recipe for Happiness."
The president presented a very interesting program on the life of Katie Couric, talented television journalist. Ms. Couric began her television reporting career in Washington DC following graduation from the University of Virginia in 1979. Her career included stints on television productions Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, and the Today Show where she co-anchored for 15 years. Her five year stint as anchor of CBS evening news ended with her dismissal in May of 1911.
Her latest show, "Katie," a syndicated daytime talk show, began on Sept. 12. The show will focus on women's issues and concerns. It airs locally at 3 p.m. on Channel 6. Ms. Couric's first book, "The Best Advice I Ever Got from Extraordinary People" became a New York Times book club best seller.
The secretary's report was given by secretary, Pat Carrigan. Fifteen members responded to roll call. Treasurer Carolyn Cleland gave the financial report. Following the collection of dues, the meeting was
adjourned.
Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess during the social time.
The next meeting will be at the home of Marjorie Harcourt and the program will be presented by Ann Innis.

Local man to drive in 500 Parade
Darrel Wilkinson of Rushville has been contacted by the 500 Festival Parade Committee to drive his vintage Mercury convertible in this year’s IPL 500 Festival Parade.

The members of Psi Iota Xi, Iota chapter held a Mother-Daughter-Doll Tea on Sunday, May 5 in the basement of St Paul’s United Methodist Church. Mothers, daughters and their dolls gathered for an afternoon of pleasantries.

The RCHS Class of 1983 is planning their 30 year class reunion for this summer. The event will take place starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Knights of Columbus.

Cayla Simmermon and Mylee Simmermon, both at Butler University and from Knightstown, were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The Noble Niters Home Ec Club met April 24 at the New Salem Methodist Church Ed Building. Marlene Fudge was host and Karen Hoeing was co-host. Eleven members and one guest answered the roll call response with their middle name.
