Mixers Extension Homemakers

RUSHVILLE — Mixers Extension Homemakers met Sept. 17 at the home of Phyllis Carson. Seven members recited the pledges and answered roll call with an item of interest.

President Mary Nigh reported on Council meeting and upcoming events. Six members will be attending Achievement Night Oct. 2 and three will go to the Living Well Conference Oct. 9.

Jessie Wilson gave a report on the benefits of apples, not only to eat, but to absorb excess salt in a roast or stew, to ripen green tomatoes and to soften brown sugar. She also told how to pick a ripe watermelon. Mary gave the lesson on Special Seasonings, telling about herbs and spices. She reminded about how to store them and to renew them often. She provided a chart on what foods the different herbs and spices could be used with and how much to use.

Phyllis showed two stools she had painted for great grandchildren for Cultural Arts.

Phyllis served delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting.
