RUSHVILLE — Greetings from the Rush County Genealogical Society! We meet at 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Rushville Elks. Visitors are always welcome. For this installment, we have several inquiries so let’s get started.

Janice Murnan writes, “I am looking for a Mildred (Ballard) Morell that is supposed to be buried in the Ballard Cemetery in Rush County. She was born 19 Aug. 1791 in Virginia and her first husband was Benjamin Jarrell. Her second husband was Robert Creed and her last husband was Amos Morrell (Morrill.) So I assume her headstone would read Mildred Morrell. Could you tell me the location of Ballard Cemetery? I think it might be in a field somewhere? I am from Shelby County, but living in Florida. Will send family on a search if we can find the location.” If you have any information that could be of help, please respond to janorm@comcast.net.

Martha Simmonds Dunn writes “I am searching out any information regarding the name of Simmonds and Morrow. My great grandfather’s name is Silas George Simmonds, (1811, Franklin Co.) He married Elizabeth Morrow (1815) and was supposed to have sold some property to Charles Morrow in Rush County. If you have any information regarding these surnames, I sure would like to know about it.” If you have any information to aid in her search, please send an email to marty@snowcrest.net.

The final query for this installment is somebody “Looking for information on Manville (Mannie) Brown, born Rush County in August, 1854. He married Elizabeth Smith who was born in Rush County on June 20, 1856. Manville (Emanuel Cummins/Buck) died August 29, 1909 and Elizabeth died June 29, 1933. Buried in Pleasant Run Cemetery - no stone. Parents: Emanuel Brown, born about 1827 in Kentucky and married to Mary Magdalin Stam/Stamm who was born about 1827 in Pennsylvania.” If you have information relating to this query, please send it to raymie2627@comcast.net.
