NARFE met in February

RUSHVILLE — Chapter 0813 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met on February 19 at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg for its monthly meeting.  President Stone opened the meeting by welcoming those present and followed with Kay Hineman leading the group with the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation.

For the monthly program, Kay Hineman introduced Reverend Jay Noll and his family, wife Sarah and daughter Christine. Reverend Noll from the First Baptist Church in Rushville has perfected a juggling program in relationship to bible stories and verses. For his program for chapter members and Ponderosa Steakhouse staff, Reverend Noll performed a juggling routine with three balls (2-same color, 1-different color) with the odd colored ball being an outcast then ending with all three balls becoming friends without regard to being different in appearance. Reverend Noll brought with him his repertoire of different juggling tools. This day he had balls, circular rings, bowling type pins, juggling sticks and scarves. He had two willing (?) volunteers (Kay and Andrea) juggling scarves, this looked more like a dance routine (as they say – practice and more practice needed), needless to say, there were no other volunteers. Reverend Noll mentioned that he once tried knives, but gave them up. He has performed his juggling programs at church crusades, weddings, prisons, schools, different groups (i.e. NARFE) and has by family requests, at funerals. We appreciate Reverend Noll for his cheering everybody up on this cold and dreary day.

President Stone followed with a business meeting with the secretary and treasurer’s reports being read and approved.  Other chapter business had the legislative officer, service officer and other committee reports.

The attendance prize was won by (Lucky) Tony Meo.

The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Greensburg, with optional lunch following the meeting.

If you are a retired federal employee or currently an active employee and have an interest in attending chapter meetings, join us at our next meeting.
