Robert L. Winters Scholarship established

RUSHVILLE — Diana and Mark White recently established a new designated scholarship endowment at the Rush County Community Foundation in memory of Diana's father.

The "Robert L. Winters Scholarship Fund" was established to assist a Rush County resident with preference given to applicants residing in Ripley Township. The recipient must be a graduating senior from an accredited high school in the State of Indiana and planning to attend an accredited two or four year college or university. Preference will be given to those who plan to study accounting or business.

"Mark and I wanted to start a scholarship fund in honor of my father," stated Diana. "Dad's profession was an accountant in Ripley Township for 52 years, so we wanted to provide an opportunity for a deserving individual pursuing an accounting or business degree."

"We started this fund to honor Diana’s father by providing a lasting memorial in his name in Rush County," stated Mark. "We have seen the results donations to the Foundation have made in our community so we felt inspired to work with them to establish this scholarship."

"On behalf of the Foundation and our Board of Directors, I want to thank Diana and Mark for establishing this scholarship," stated Garry Cooley, Foundation executive director. "Mr. Winters strived to serve his community. He was an active citizen, not only in Rush County, but also East Central Indiana. Through this scholarship, it will link his name to the Foundation and the Rush County community not only today, but for our future generations.  Diana and Mark's generosity will live on as this fund provides scholarships forever to assist Rush County students in achieving their educational goal in the accounting or business profession."

If you would like to make a donation to this fund you may send your donation to the Rush County Community Foundation, 117 N Main St, Rushville, IN 46173 with a note included that you would like it added to the Robert L. Winters Scholarship Fund.
