Rush County Genealogical Society meets Nov. 10

RUSHVILLE — Greetings from the Rush County Genealogical Society! We meet at 11 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at the Rushville Elks. Visitors are always welcome. For this installment, we have no new inquiries. On the bright side, this leaves room to discuss the exciting plans we have for our Nov. 10 meeting. On this date, we will hold our “Election of Officers.” Fun, yes…but this is not what makes the meeting so exciting! Pair an election up with Rushville’s own kilt-wearing, smile-bearing history buff and it becomes a meeting you won’t want to miss! You guessed it! Brian Sheehan will be presenting a program on Rush County history which will include lots of pictures.  This is a recipe for regret if you do not attend so we hope to see you there!  As always, if you are researching a lost relative and would like to request help, send an email to rushcogs@gmail.com.     The second ever all Manilla School get together will be held on Saturday, June 22, at the Manilla Fire Station. The event will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch being served at 1 p.m.

    The 2013 reunion is being planned for Sunday, Sept. 22 at the New Salem Lion’s Club. Much of the arrangements will be the same as previous reunions with reservation information to be sent out late August.

    The Jivin Jackson 4-H Club met June 11 at the Jackson Township Community Building for prejudging and their last regular meeting before the Rush County Fair. Garret Sammons, secretary called the meeting to order with John Alexander leading the American pledge and Kylee Macy leading the 4-H pledge.

  • Noble Niters meet

    The Noble Niters met May 29 at New Salem Methodist Church Ed building. Fifteen members and four guests attended. Linda Murphy read “Graduation” for inspiration. She also gave a report on “How to Buy Bliss.” The members discussed plans for Achievement Night in October.
