RUSHVILLE —
Rushville Church of Christ The a.m. worship time this Sunday is also Father’s Day. Margaret Maxwell will bring the special music. The sermon is titled, “God’s Most Wanted Men.” The focus will be on the qualities that God is looking for in men of God. There are examples of these men in the scriptures, and in our day as well. The challenge to each of us is to develop our potential to be what He wants us to be. Jr. Church meets the same hour. Sunday Bible classes will meet after worship. We have added to our teaching staff, so we now have classes for all ages. Intermediate Camp I for those entering the sixth and seventh grades will begin at Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp in the afternoon. Set-up of the Rush County Christian Churches Fair Booth in the afternoon Monday. The Booth will be open and hosted by members of the Independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in Rush County each evening of the fair. Everyone is invited and welcome to visit the booth between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp Mowing by RCC, 8 a.m. Saturday Delivery day for the June menu of Angel Food, 8 to 10 a.m. Also, orders may be made for the July menu. Plum Creek Christian Church House Of Faith When it comes to faith we can learn a lot from a child. Child-like faith is what truly pleases God. In Matthew 18:3-4 Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven." Being humble is not the only thing we can learn from a child. They are smart enough to slow down and take a nap. Are you so used to going from one thing to the next that you never have a minute to yourself? Are you fooling yourself into thinking that all this busy work for the Lord is what pleases him? Not according to Exodus 20:9-10. God commands us to rest! We are no good to God if we are burning the candle at both ends. Ken Crockett sums this up perfectly. "Burn out occurs when we give more than we take in. We go from giving out to giving up. Cars that are not refueled run out of gas. Wells that are not replenished will run dry. Batteries that are not recharged will have no power. We are not any different. A Christian that is not refueled, replenished, and recharged will burn out." Are you taking time to get out of the rat race and recharge your batteries? God will honor you when you obey His Word. Be still and listen to God. He has something important to say to you. First Baptist Church Andrew Phipps will be speaking at First Baptist Church of Rushville at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. He spoke here last year and may be seen on television on Saturday evenings. A Ball State graduate and former teacher, he has worked as community relations director for Congressman Mike Pence and speaks across America with a “Faith, Family and Freedom” message. The public is encouraged to come hear Rev. Phipps. Arlington Christian Church To honor fathers and to strengthen families, Rusty Spurs will speak at the Arlington Christian Church Father-Son Banquet this evening. Rusty Spurs is portrayed by Randy Ludwig, a Christian minister in southern Indiana. His theme will be "Raised Right - The Cowboy Way.” A steak-and-potatoes dinner starts at 6 p.m. followed by Rusty's talk at 7 p.m. at Arlington Christian Church. For information on reserving your place at the banquet, call the church office at 765-663-2329 and leave your number for a return call. First Presbyterian Church “This Is My Father’s World” will be our hymn of praise, reminding us of our God who created the world good and makes everyone equally in God’s image. Join us this Father’s Day Sunday at First Presbyterian Church as we honor the men of faith in our lives. Pastor Dena Vittorio will preach “Getting It All Together” from Luke 8:26-39. Have you ever felt pulled apart in a thousand directions, choosing between work and home, helping others and taking a break, what we want to do and what we need to do? Learn how Jesus and Joshua guide us to “choose this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:15) and discover spiritual wholeness. Marena Vittorio will be our musician playing the upbeat prelude “Chevy Chase Ragtime” by Hubert Blake. Special music will be an intricate piano trio by Mary Jane Truster, Ann Fenimore and Vittorio called “Das Dreyblass” by W.F.E. Bach. Gerald Mohr will serve as liturgist. Jon and Connie Martin will be our Kids and Bible Time leaders. We joyfully welcome you to experience God’s grace as we follow the Light of Christ! St. Mary Church This weekend we welcome two Franciscan Sisters who will make an appeal on behalf of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a religious order of about 500 members. Please welcome them and make a generous sacrifice for the success of their mission. Co-chairpersons of the 2010 Fall Festival are Greg and Theresa Alexander and Kim and Ann Curtis. A meeting for all committee chairpersons will be after the 8:30 a.m. Mass June 27 in the church. Be sure to stop by the St. Mary Booth located inside the RushShelby Energy Community Building at the Rush County Fair. Information and surprises for all ages. Volunteers still needed. Please call 561-0431 for more information. Weekly Mass Times are subject to change. Please check the Mass Schedule in the weekly bulletin. Happy Father’s Day!
