RUSHVILLE —
Arlington Christian Church Arlington Christian Church announces new Bible Study. A special two-session Bible study called Is That Any Way to Run a Church? will start Sunday and conclude July 25. It will take place during the Sunday School hour, from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. in the Sanctuary, and will be taught by the Minister Bob Brock. The public is invited to these studies because they deal with the type of questions many Christians have: Does God have an organized religion? When Jesus said, “I will build my church,” did He also set up a way to run it? Does the New Testament contain a pattern – or blueprint – for how a local church should operate? Is the church a democracy and should it just be run the way the majority of members want it to? Jesus is the head of the church, but does He delegate any authority to any people on earth? Can a person be a good, obedient Christian without being a faithful member of a local congregation? What if there are problems in the church, how are they to be solved? Can just anybody serve in church leadership, or does a person have to be qualified? What does the Bible say about these questions? Guests are then invited to stay for the morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. The sermon topic this Sunday is “Lessons on Youth from a Successful 85-year-old.” Arlington Christian Church meets in our historic church building at 2341 N 700 W. First Presbyterian Church “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims God’s handiwork!” Psalm 19:1 Join Rushville’s Presbyterian Churches at “Worship in the Park” this Sunday as we give thanks under the blue sky and tree canopy. First Presbyterian and Trinity Presbyterian enjoy this annual event at 9:30 a.m. in North Veteran Park. All are welcome to join us. Simply bring your lawn chair and dress casually. “Soaking In God’s Creation” will be Pastor Mick Saunders message of Good News this Sunday. JoBeth Martin will offer special music with her flute. A picnic pitch-in dinner will follow our worship in the park’s shelter house. Deacons are providing table service and drinks. All are joyfully welcome! Plum Creek Christian Church God is moving at PCCC! When God shows up you get "goosebumps," as indicated by our guest speaker and elder Doug Whitaker. You may not be aware of how your life may be impacting someone else, but you can be assured others are watching. As Christians we are told in the book of Matthew 28:18-20 to tell others about Jesus, and to baptize those who believe in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When we become followers of Jesus we are to show others how to find him as well. You may wonder, How can I lead others to Christ? Tell them what Jesus has done for your life! Get involved in church. Not only will you grow spiritually you will get others to grow as well. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. God is more than willing to equip all who desire to serve him. Watch and see for yourself what God will do with a willing heart. It will give you "goosebumps." Do you realize how others watch what you do when you profess to be a Christian? Make sure what they see will make them want to come to church! Visit with us soon and you may get "goosebumps." Rushville Church of Christ Sunday Special music will be brought by Mary Cleland for the 9:25 a.m. Worship Service. Jerry’s message is about the importance of encouragement in the church. God holds out all kinds of encouraging promises for us, and we in turn must pass on words that strengthen and guide others. Jr. Church will meet at the same hour with Cheryl Oakes leading. Sunday Bible Classes will meet at 10:45 a.m. Senior High Camp for 10th through 13th grades will begin at Mahoning Christian Service Camp. Vacation Bible School for ages 3 through the sixth grades will be in the evening. A light meal will be at 5:30 p.m., then VBS activities will go from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening through Thursday. “Hero Headquarters” is the theme. The program will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
