We were treated to a special message this past Sunday from Brother Steve Landon. He spoke to us about the passage from the gospel of Mark, chapter 10 verses 46-52. He spoke of how Blind Bartemaus called out to Jesus and was rebuked by those around him. The Bible tells us that he stood and cast away his garment the same way we still can. He left all behind to follow Jesus and realized Christ was calling him from his blindness the same way he calls us still today, to see him for who he is and to lay down what holds us down and follow him.

Our Sunday night message was delivered by Assistant Pastor Tim Hensley; he continued with the series started last week of who Jesus is. Hensley spoke of how Christ is our advocate before God, how he is our Counselor, our Comforter and our Intercessor. He spoke of how Jesus spoke of himself as The Amen, the one that is firm, truthful, stable and able to be trusted. Pastor Hensley spoke of Jesus being the Image of God and how Jesus told Philip that he who has seen me has seen the Father. He explained how sometimes we may be the only glimpse of Christ that someone may ever see.

"Financial Freedom"

You may have heard it said that the only thing preachers talk about is money. The fact is they are doing what they are called to do. That is to teach the Word of God.

Many think that the root of all evil is money. The truth is it is the love of money that leads to trouble. Many people suffer financial ruin because they were foolish with money.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters...You cannot serve both God and money.”

Do you believe that you have earned everything you own because you have worked long and hard? 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 puts the correct emphasis on God, "Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything...Everything we have comes from you and we give you only what you first gave us."

Look to the Bible for your financial advice. The Bible will teach you how to give, save, and spend. Applying biblical principals can lead to financial freedom. Without God no amount of money will make you happy.

Rushville Church of Christ

“Pentioch” Meeting, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Vicki Campbell will bring special music during morning worship Sunday. Jerry Holdman’s message will be taken from I Corinthians 9:19-23. God wants us to use every possible method to take the Gospel to people. Paul was a great example of doing this, and his life gives us an example of how to do this. We live in a different generation than he did, yet the needs of people are basically the same. Jr. Church and Wee Worship will meet at the same hour.

Sunday Bible classes will meet.

The Community Praise Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of God on West 52. Everyone welcome.

Youth Meetings will be in the late afternoon Sunday.

Pentioch Dream Team meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.

No Wednesday church meals until January.

November Angel Food delivery will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 21.
