First Baptist Church brings Mayberry to life
The cast is familiar – Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee, and the unforgettable Deputy Barney Fife. These characters from the 1960s television program, The Andy Griffith Show, have become a part of our culture. First Baptist Church is using episodes of The Andy Griffith Show to teach Godly morals. Take Me Back to Mayberry is a new elective that will run each Thursday, beginning March 7, at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 1431 West US Highway 52 in Rushville.
Take Me Back to Mayberry is a theme approach to teach Bible lessons using portions of The Andy Griffith Show as real-life demonstrations of moral and spiritual examples. Each week’s lesson focuses on topics such as forgiveness, good citizenship, manners, working together, as well as other often-forgotten values associated with the Christian lifestyle.
The concept is not truly unique; Jesus taught with parables. Using The Andy Griffith Show to teach the Bible is teaching in parable form. If you are looking for a different type of Bible Study class, come and join us! For more information, call the church office at 765-932-2153.
Plum Creek Christian Church
Spring is around the corner, yes it’s almost here. What does spring signify to you? Most of us think spring as pulling back the blanket of snow and waking up all of God’s creation. We think of baby animals, the smell of fresh blossoms on spring flowers and thoughts leading to a cross on a hill. We celebrate Easter in the spring when all things are new. When Christ rose from the grave he also gave us a new life, a life in Him. Please join us at Plum Creek Christian Church in the upcoming weeks to learn what happened in the days leading up to the cross to Christ’s resurrection and how our lives are forever changed because of it.
