iPads encourage motivation at RCS

RUSHVILLE — Stephanie Matney watches as Mackenzie Cox types on an iPad to find information for her reading class in the Functional Skills classroom at RESW. Mrs. Mona Nichols, their teacher, wrote a grant to the Rush County Community Foundation Education Fund last spring. As a result, she received funding to purchase iPads for the three Functional Skills classes.

Mrs. Nichols stated, “The iPad allows me to have instant information at my fingertips, no matter where we are . . . in the classroom or in the school. The iPads are big enough to use with a group of students, but small enough for students to take to his/her seat for individual use. My students are motivated to use the iPad to find information and practice to improve their skills in the academic and communication areas.”

As classroom tools change we find students learning in new and different ways. These tools are also giving them the skills they need to excel in life and are one more reason Rush County Schools is a great place to be.
