Rushville — Paul William Barada was elected president of the Rush County School Board at their January 2013 meeting.

A 1967 graduate of Indiana University, Barada has served as president of both the Rushville High School Alumni Association and the Culver Military Academy’s Summer School Alumni Association. In 1991 he received Culver’s Alumni Leadership Award. In 1995 he received the Distinguished Service Award from his high school alumni association. Barada attended the Indiana University School of Law, the University of Dayton School of Law, and did graduate work at Butler University in Indianapolis. He also completed the Institute for Organization Management at the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Barada is chairman of the board, former president, and founder of Barada Associates, Inc. Barada Associates’ primary service is providing prospective employers with independent and objective assessments of past job performance on their candidates for employment, based on extensive telephone conversations with business and professional references. The company also offers a complete array of pre-employment screening tools, from court checks to credit checks. Barada has authored a number of articles on the subject of reference checking.

Barada has also authored a weekly commentary on contemporary issues for the Rushville Republican and radio for over thirty years. Barada was named Rush County’s “Most Influential Man of the 1980s” and received the Rush County Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Citizen” award for 1993. In 1996 he was appointed to the “Council of the Sagamores of the Wabash” by Governor Evan Bayh.

He has served as a member of the Culver Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, a director of the Rush County Industrial Development Corporation, a Trustee of Rush Memorial Hospital, and is a past chairman of the Southeastern Indiana Private Industry Council. In addition, Barada was a founder and served as the first president of the Rush County Community Foundation and served on the board of directors of the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory in Chicago. He has also served on NCREL’s Editorial Advisory Board and two terms as a member and president of the local board of school trustees for Rush County Schools. Further, Barada served on the Executive Council of the Indiana University Alumni Association, is a life member of the IUAA and a new member of the board of directors of the athletic “I” Association. He serves on the Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation board of directors, the Rotary Club Board of Directors and is a Trustee of the local American Legion Post #150. He also serves as a member of the Parks Board for the City of Rushville, and as a director of the Rush County Chamber of Commerce.

Paul and his wife, Connie, are the parents of three grown sons and enjoy nine grandchildren.

Marlene Fudge, Rush County Farm Bureau women’s leader, read the book “A to Z Corn” to Mrs. Angle’s Kindergarten class and presented the book to the classroom. Mrs. Fudge also made a snack for each student out of different kinds of corn cereal.
