RUSHVILLE —
The Milroy High School Class of 1962 recently held their 50th Reunion at The 201 Building on Main Street in Rushville. Twenty-four classmates and twenty guests attended the event on Aug. 18.
The evening began at 4 p.m. with a reception featuring memorabilia placed around the room and a continuous slide presentation produced by classmate Larry Stout. Stout organized a power point presentation of various pictures of school experiences featuring class members from Milroy and Moscow. Memorabilia was loaned from the Milroy High School display at the old high school building as well as contributions from members of the class.
Appetizers and drinks were provided by the organizing committee of Jim and Vickie Smith, Kenny and Mary Ann (Tillotson) Hornsby, Jane (Power) and Chuck Niccum, Sandy (Cole) and Doug Brown, and Ted and Bev Koelmel. Randy Reynolds provided a compilation of appropriate music for the reception.
Dinner was served at 6:30 p.m., featuring prime rib and grilled chicken from the Park Restaurant at Mays.
At 7:30 p.m., the program began with Phil Bacon, class president, recognizing five classmates who have died: Lester Stiers, David Alford, Billy Joe Woods, Mark Priest, and Jane (Cloud) Smith. Attending the reunion was Susan Woods, widow of Billy Joe, and their two sons, Matt and Scott.
The program continued with another slide presentation of memories of Milroy and Moscow over the years. Larry Stout again produced the show that included photographs collected from classmates. Larry also provided humorous background remarks. That presentation featured former teachers, class trips, parties, dances, and the Senior Trip to Pittsburgh, Gettysburg, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
Following the program, a formal portrait was taken by Fudge Photography of Rushville and classmates socialized.
Members of the class and guests attended from Rushville, Greensburg, Milroy, Gowdy, Manilla, Morristown, Connersville, Columbus, Vevay, Indianapolis, Merrillville, Aurora, Fishers, North Vernon, Fort Wayne and North Manchester, as well as McDonough, Ga.
