Aaron Kirchoff

After making the run to the Class 3A girls basketball state title game, postseason awards and honors are beginning to come in for members of the Lady Lions.

Senior Alexa Bess has been named the Hoosier Heritage Conference Player of the Year as voted by the conference coaches.

Joining Bess on the All-HHC team are fellow Lady Lions Kaleigh Andrews, Morgan Herbert and Shelbie Justice.

Head coach Melissa Marlow was chosen as the Coach of the Year in the HHC.

Andrews received a certificate for the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) Academic All-State in recognition of her academic excellence while participating in basketball in the state of Indiana.

Andrews and Bess were selected to the 2010 HBCA District 3 All-Stars. As a part of that distinction, Bess has also been invited to play in the East/West All-Star Classic on April 18 at Tecumseh High School.

Both Andrews and Bess have also been invited to the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 Senior Workout to be held Sunday at Marian University in Indianapolis. Both Lady Lions will participate in the second session from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Junior Justice has made her verbal commitment to play college basketball at Ball State University.

Other members of the All-HHC girls basketball team included Jill Hopper of Yorktown; Sydni Phelan of New Palestine; Hannah Douglas and Mur Hagerman of Pendleton Heights; Kelsey Bryant of Greenfield-Central; and Jessica Brown, Makenzi Reasor and Kayla Negley of Mt. Vernon.
