RUSHVILLE —
The Lions fell to conference foe Greenfield-Central 59-47 as the CougarsÕ Derek Conley led the way with 28 points.
Conley had the Cougars first seven points and led Greenfield to a 13-8 first quarter lead. Cameron Cox, Nate Hoeing, John Riddell and Nate Niehoff all had two points for the Lions in the first eight minutes.
Alex Yurack got in the scoring column for the Lions in the second quarter, but the Cougars countered with back-to-back 3-pointers to push the lead to 23-10. HoeingÕs four straight points cut the deficit to eight, but a bucket by the Cougars had the Greenfield lead at 25-15 at the half.
Rushville outscored the Cougars 17-11 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 36-32. A Bryce Dye triple had Rushville within six at 32-26 and a 3-pointer by Yurack had the Lions within three at 34-31.
Greenfield put the game away in the fourth as Conley hit eight free throws down the stretch (17-of-20 for the game) to seal the win.
The Lions are now 8-11 on the year and the Cougars (with a 55-46 win over Cambridge City Lincoln Saturday) improve to 5-14.
The IHSAA announced the draw for the boys basketball sectional. The Lions will play in the first game of the tournament against Lawrenceburg. Game 2 pits South Dearborn and Greensburg. Game 3 will have Batesville and Franklin County. Madison drew the bye and will take on the winner of Rushville and Lawrenceburg.

GREENSBURG - The Lady Lions opened sectional action Tuesday against Madison and eliminated the Lady Cubs 6-0 to advance to the sectional semifinal. The Lady Lions (10-10) face Greensburg in the second semifinal following Batesville and South Dearborn.

RICHMOND - The Lady Lion tennis team fell to Richmond 5-0 in the first round of the regional at Richmond.
At No. 1 singles, Allison Wainwright lost 6-1, 6-1 to Peyton Young. At No. 2 singles, Rosella Troyer fell 6-0, 6-0 to Katy Robinson. Sarah Harpring lost at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. -
