Boys & Girls Club basketball sign ups underway

RUSHVILLE — Sign-ups for the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County boys and girls ages five through second grade basketball will run through Feb. 28. These leagues will run the five Saturdays in March.

Each participant must be a member of the Boys & Girls Club. Membership dues are $25 and are good for a full year. Each participant will be charged a program fee of $15. A late fee of $5 will be charged after Feb. 28.

Each participant will receive a T-shirt.

Anyone unable to pay the membership dues or program fee needs to talk to William Walker, chief professional officer. No child will be turned away due to an inability to pay the fees.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help coach should also sign up at the Boys & Girls Club. The club is now required to do background checks on the individuals working with our youth. This is at the club’s expense and is for the benefit of our youth.

As a reminder, the purpose of the program is to develop in the upcoming players the mental and physical skill levels that will allow them to be successful in their league. The coaches will push for attitude, player development and fun, not for wins.

Anyone interested in helping should contact Walker at 932-2765.
