The Lions posted a 3-0 victory over Greenfield-Central to cap Senior Night for the soccer team.
Rushville got the scoring started at the 29:30 mark as Collin Hillen found the back of the net.
With 13:26 to play in the first half, Eric Wagner put a shot on goal and Dan Schilling collected the rebound and put the ball in the net for a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Schilling came up with the loose ball in front of the Cougars' net and knocked the ball past the keeper to make the final margin 3-0.
Rushville out-shot the Cougars 9-6 and keeper Zach Yazel had four saves on the night.
“If we could play like that the rest of the season, we will be a tough team to deal with,” RCHS head coach Dave Moran said. “I thought we played as well as we could. A total team defensive effort won the game for us.”
In the junior varsity match, the Lions fell to Greenfield 3-0.
The Cougars out-shot the Lions 6-5 and keeper Jake Clifton had three saves.
Players of the game for the Lions were Hunter Orme, Piedad Leon and Michael Cain, according to Coach Moran.
Earlier in the week, the Lions fell 3-0 to New Palestine.
The Dragons had 14 shots to Rushville's 10 with Yazel coming up with four saves in goal for the Lions.
Coach Moran noted the solid play of Casey West, Drew Taff, Adam Wagner and Mason Laker.
The junior varsity Lions fell 3-0. New Palestine out-shot the Lions 15-7. Clifton had seven saves for Rushville.
