Lions preparing for big weekend
After a tough road loss to open the season at Brown County, the Lions are preparing for a double weekend as Rushville travels to Connersville Friday and host New Palestine Saturday.
The Lions fell behind by 10 points at the half at Brown County, but fought back to take the lead in the fourth quarter.
“I thought our effort in the second half was very good,” RCHS head coach Dan Carmony said.
The Lions have a big weekend and will take what they learned from the opener and prepare for the two games.
“Every practice and every game, we want to get a little bit better,” Coach Carmony said.
The Lions open the weekend Friday at Connersville. The Spartans are undefeated at 2-0 and are led by former RCHS head coach Kerry Brown.
The Spartans have wins over Union County (67-52) and Cambridge City (69-52).
“We have to keep getting better defensively and not get beat off the dribble. We have to contain the dribble drive,” Coach Carmony added.
Saturday, the Lions enter Hoosier Heritage Conference action as the defending sectional champion Dragons come to town. The Lions will be looking to get off to a solid start in the HHC by winning on their home floor.
“It will be important for us to get a lead and make them play at our tempo,” Coach Carmony said.
Containing the dribble drive will be important on Saturday as well as the Dragons will look to spread the floor on the Lions.
Both games have a 6 p.m. junior varsity start.
