Dragon netters get by Lions

A strong New Palestine Dragon tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over the visiting Lions Monday. The Dragons captured the Hoosier Heritage Conference title.

“We faced a very strong program in New Palestine. They have a great feeder system and congratulations to them on winning the HHC,” RCHS head coach Brian Sloan said.

Ean Billman was defeated at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2.

At No. 2 singles, Chase Sullivan fell 6-1, 6-1.

Joey Edenfield won the first set 7-5 at No. 3 singles, but lost the next two sets 6-4, 6-2.

The No. 1 doubles team of Aaron Pritchett and Jeremy Lemmons lost 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Ryan Shouse and Austin Bruns fell 6-0, 6-0.

In reserve action, Hunter Earnest was defeated 8-1.

Tony Gulley and Josh Bostic fell 8-1.

“Tony and Josh had fun and played as well as they have all year,” Coach Sloan added.

Justin Yager lost 8-0.

The Lions host the Pirates of Greensburg for Senior Night Wednesday.
