The cross country season kicked off Saturday with the annual running of the Rushville Classic. Teams from around the state competed in three divisions for both boys and girls. Rushville competed in Division II. The Lady Lions were incomplete as a team with just three runners. Hillary Cain led the way for the Lady Lions with an 11th place finish in 21:43.09. Kaylee Creekmore was next in 34th with a time of 23:11.57. Michaela Orme finished 69th with a time of 25:20.35. Hagerstown’s Hayley Rogers won the race in 20:16. Batesville won the team title with 85 followed by Guerin Catholic 88 and Eaton 145. For the boys Division II, Guerin Catholic won the team title with 52. Frankton was second with 131. Delta was third with 134. Rushville finished 17th with 389. Union County’s Tate Schienbein won the race in 16:19.25. Evan Dyer led the Lions with a 53rd place finish in 19:31.52. Loys Rees was next for Rushville in 75th with a time of 20:15.58. Nick Zepeda was three spots back in 78th with a time of 20:18.87. Dalton Miller finished 84th in 20:37.19. Zach Dorrel was 106 th in 21:36.30. Tyler Dawson finished 122nd with a time of 23:33 and Ryan Edwards was 127th in 24:31.86. In Division I (large school), Columbus North won both the titles for girls and boys. For the girls, Columbus North had 16 to win the team title followed by Southport 100 and Franklin Central 112. Columbus North’s Rachel Sollman won the race in 19:22.45. For the boys, Columbus North’s seven runners took the top seven spots for a sweep of the team title with 15. Pike was second with 84 and Greenwood was third with 114. Columbus North’s Christopher Kelsey won the race in 15:55.15. In Division III (small school), Oldenburg Academy (33) won the team title for the girls followed by Tri (68) and Eastern Hancock (71). Oldenburg’s Ann Kuntz won the race in 19:54.40. Monroe Central won the team title for the boys with 62 followed by Blue River Valley 136 and South Ripley 182. Wapahani’s Stefan Harry won the race in 17:34.98.Sports

Bulletin: RCHS boys basketball schedule change
The boys varsity basketball game at Centerville on Saturday has been rescheduled for Monday. The JV start time is 6 p.m. followed by the varsity game at approximately 7:30 p.m

Madison tops Lady Lions in final
The sectional title game Saturday at Batesville pitted the Lady Cubs of Madison and the Lady Lions of Rushville. For a second consecutive year, the Lady Cubs extended their season with a sectional championship, knocking off Rushville 54-45.

Bulldogs hand Lions 66-46 loss
The Batesville High School gymnasium was hopping with games nearly every
night last week. Squeezed in between the girls basketball sectional was a boys' game on Thursday. -
BRMS eighth-grade Black
The BRMS eighth-grade girls Black defeated the Greensburg Lady Pirates 38-34. Leading the way for the Lady Cubs was Lilly Cramer with 16 points. McKenzie Woolston added 11 points.

Wrestlers bow out at semistate
Three Lion wresters made the trip to New Castle Saturday for the semistate. Unfortunately for the Lions, the solid field at the semistate eliminated the Lions before any could qualify for the state finals.

Lady Lions eliminate Lady Knights
The goal in the tournament is to advance and that is what the Lady Lions did Tuesday at Batesville with a 53-50 victory over South Dearborn.

Lady Lion gymnasts fall to visiting Lady Dragons
After winning the Rushville Invitational Saturday, the Lady Dragons of New Palestine returned to Rushville Monday to face the Lady Lions. New Palestine continued its strong way with a 98.175-89.275 victory over Rushville.

Girls headed to bowling semistate
The Rushville Bowl girl's high school bowling team will be traveling to Anderson Saturday to compete in the semistate of the state wide bowling tournament.

Lion frosh win tourney title
Rushville hosted a 4-team tournament in Memorial Gym and ended the day with the championship.

Lion swim team falls to Shelbyville
On the road at Shelbyville, the Lion swim team was defeated by the Golden Bears.
