On Nov. 1, 2008 friends and family gathered for the uniting in marriage of Stacy Leigh Sowder and Matthew James Zehringer. The service was held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary of Help Catholic Church in Ft. Recovery, Ohio. Deacon John Parker performed the double-ring nuptials.
The bride wore a Lillianne strapless ivory satin gown with a fitted bodice and gored skirt with a full train. A kiwi green sash worn at the natural waist was made by the mother of the bride. The veil was waist length and topped with a silver jeweled hair-piece. Accessories included elbow-length gauntlet gloves, pearl earrings and necklace. The bride carried a bouquet of green Asiatic lilies highlighted by black tulle and orange sequined streamers. The groom and his attendants wore black suits, black shirts, and green ties that matched the bride’s sash. The couple wore matching Chuck Taylor shoes to match their fun spirit.
Maid of honor was Liz Burke, Chicago; bridesmaids were Erin Graham, Muncie; Kristie Burke, Portland; and Kim Stiers, Muncie, friends of the couple and Kelly Zehringer, St. Henry, Ohio, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Audrey Lefeld, St. Henry, Ohio, niece of the groom. Best man was Ryan Zehringer, Toledo, Ohio, brother of the groom. The groom’s attendants were Erik Sowder, West Lafayette, brother of the bride; Jeremy Lefeld, St. Henry, Ohio, friend of the groom; Rich Wood, Ft. Recovery, Ohio, friend of the groom; and Rob Miller, Muncie, friend of the couple.
The alter and center aisle were decorated with pumpkins and green tulle bows. Mothers’ candles and unity candle were decorated and held by leaded candelabras from the bride’s great grandmother. Special trumpet music “Trumpet Voluntary” and selections were provided by Dan Zehringer, Dayton, Ohio, uncle of the groom and soloist Bruce Fane, Muncie, friend of the couple sang “Ava Maria.” Organ selections played by Rosie Diller, Ft. Recovery, friend of the groom’s family were “Give Us This Day,” “Let There be Peace on Earth,” and “Horn Pipe.” Readings were done by Sheila Tumbusch, St. Henry, Ohio, aunt of the groom; Tim Sowder, Greenfield, uncle of the bride; Erik Sowder, West Lafayette, brother of the bride; and Erin Graham, Muncie, friend of the couple. Ushers were Matthew Sowder and Joshua Sowder, Richwood, Ohio cousins of the bride. Guestbook and program attendants were Gabrielle Shuppert, Greenfield, cousin of the bride and Lauren Rammel, Ft. Recovery, Ohio, cousin of the groom.
A reception was held at the Ft. Recovery American Legion where a catered meal was served. Cake servers were Morgan Jones, Muncie friend of the bride and Kim Westgerdes, Ft. Recovery, Ohio, friend of the groom. Table servers were Holly Bergman, Lindsey Feltz, Katie Kremer, Jenna Tumbusch and Hannah Tumbusch, Mercer County, Ohio, cousins of the groom. DJ-ing the reception was Jack Shepler, Indianapolis, friend of the couple. The father-daughter dance was danced to “What a Wonderful World” and the couple’s first dance was to “Blue & Yellow.” The mother-son dance was danced to “The Wizard.” After some traditional dances a short break allowed everyone to change into costumes and return to the first costumed dance where the bridal party and others danced to “Thriller.”
Grandparents attending were Ramona Ollendorf, Gothenburg, Neb. and Wanda Sowder, Rushville, grandmothers of the bride and Rita Zehringer, St. Marys, Ohio and Mary Tumbusch, St. Henry, Ohio, grandmothers of the groom.
The daughter of Robert and Robin Sowder of Rushville, the bride is a graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications. She currently works for Live Nation in Indianapolis.
The son of Linda and the late Gary Zehringer of Ft Recovery, OH, the groom is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Technology. He is employed by Fast-Teks in Indianapolis.
After a wedding cruise to the Grand Cayman Islands and Jamaica, the couple resides in Westfield.
