JANUARY

TUESDAY (1/22)

l Relay for Life first team captain/committee meeting, 6:30 p.m., in Council chambers at the Rushville Police Department. We would like to encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about Relay to come to the meeting.

l FIT Walkabout, 7 a.m., Rush County Courthouse – inside or outside. Meet on the 1st floor of the Rush County Courthouse. Information 932-5974.

WEDNESDAY (1/23)

l Indiana Blood Center blood drive, 3-7 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 226 N. Morgan St., Rushville. Information: 932-2234.

THURSDAY (1/24)

l Take advantage of opportunities to stay fit every Thursday through Jan. 31. Walk with Indianapolis Hiking Club as they visit Rushville with “Get Fit On the Fitness Trail.”  Meet at 3:45 p.m. in the parking lot east of Rushville Consolidated High School. This is part of the FIT Walkabout schedule.

l Board of Directors of Interlocal CAP, Inc., meet, 7 p.m., New Castle office.

FRIDAY (1/25)

l Dance for BRMS students, 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 25 at Rushville K of C. $5 admission. Music by DJ Kevin Green.

l Every Friday from Jan. 4-25, participants of F.I.T. Walkabouts are invited to Anytime Fitness at 4 p.m. Non-members will be asked to sign the guest register.

SATURDAY (1/26)

l Relay for Life Chili Supper, 4-8 p.m., Rushville Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Free will offering.

l Rush County 4-H beef and dairy beef weigh-in will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Jan. 26 in the Livestock Pavilion on the Rush County Fairgrounds. Information and enrollment forms are available to pick up in the Rush County Extension office and will be available on Jan. 26, but will not be mailed to members. ALL animals that exhibit at the Rush County Fair will need to have an RFID tag, which will also be given on the day of the weigh-in.    Information: 932-5974. Snow date is Feb. 2.

SUNDAY (1/27)

l The movie UP will be showing at 3 p.m. at The Gathering, 245 N. Main St., Rushville. Popcorn and soda provided. Please bring a canned good for the Rush County Food Pantry. You’re welcome to bring your favorite pillow or camp chair! Everyone welcome.

MONDAY (1/28)

l FIT Walkabout, 11:35 a.m., Memorial Gymnasium – inside or outside. Meet in the lobby of RCHS Memorial Gymnasium. Information 932-5974.

TUESDAY (1/29)

l The Manna Mission Meal will be served 5 until 7 p.m. at Main Street Christian Church. The menu is chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese, rolls and dessert. All who are in need of a hot meal are welcome to partake. We serve eat-in and carry-out meals.  We also have some winter clothing (mostly adult) available for those in need.

THURSDAY (1/31)

l The Rushville Riverside Park Amphitheater Committee will announce the 2013 Season at 7 p.m. at the 201 Building, 201 N. Main St., Rushville. The public is invited.



FEBRUARY

FRIDAY (2/1)

l CD Single release party for the song, “What He Made of Me”, written and performed by Craig Moore, will be from 4-9 p.m. at The Park Restaurant in Mays. This is a change in location. The special at the restaurant will be Pan Fried Chicken. Feel free to dine in or carry out while purchasing your CD. Moore will be performing live throughout the evening. There will be volunteer waitresses for the evening. The CD Single with the song “What He Made of Me” will be for sale for $5. All proceeds from the sale of the CD along with the tips earned will be given to Melinda Dora and her family to help cover medical costs etc. The CD will also be available at the Park Restaurant in Rushville with Moore performing at the Mays location.

l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

SATURDAY (2/2)

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue.

TUESDAY (2/5)

l Partners for a Healthy Rush County will meet at 5:15 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Rush County

FRIDAY (2/8)

l Free dance for middle school students sponsored by the Rushville City Parks Department, 6-8 p.m., BRMS gym. Free admission and refreshments.

THURSDAY (2/21)

l “Know the 10 Signs,” a free workshop on detecting the warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Area 9 Agency on Aging, 520 S. 9th St., Richmond. The free session requires registration by contacting the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

TUESDAY (2/22)

l The Boys and Girls Club of Rush County hosts monthly dances for elementary school age children from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person. D.J. is Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

MISCELLANEOUS

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

l Diabetes education classes are held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at Rush Memorial Hospital Skills Lab, second floor. Cost, $10 per class with a $25 refund if all three classes are attended. Info: 765-932-7416 or dena.bills@rushmemorial.com

l Partners for a Healthy Rush County meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Boys & Girls Club. Open to all interested businesses, organizations or individuals in Rush County.

l AA and Al-Anon meet at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

l Crossroads Serenity Group, an Al-Anon group, meets from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday at 333 N. Main Street, Rushville. Information: Gail at 317-642-9112 or Larry at 765-277-9477.

l A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone welcomed.

l Veterans, if you have an appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis call (765) 932-3075, seven to 10 days in advance, to arrange a ride in the DAV van. Veterans who need a ride sooner call (765) 561-5445 or (765) 932-2703.

l Rush County Victims Assistance, Inc., monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited. Info: Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

l A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics. The sale is open to the public with sale hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from  8 a.m. to noon Saturday.     l Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk supporting Autism Awareness. The course for Mayor Pavey’s Run/Walk will exhibit the trails of the Rushville Parks and Recreation Department. Anyone interested in registering for this event may do so on the City’s Website or pick up registration forms at the Mayor’s Office, 133 W. First St., Rushville. Information: 765-932-3907.     l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $10 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public. Information: 932-2277.
    l T-Ball Jamboree.
    l Beta Sigma Phi sorority will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Conservation Club. All proceed will be donated to Rushville Memorial Hospital’s Kedo’s Kids pediatric center fund.
    l St. Mary Catholic School annual Green and White Gala.  The Gala is an opportunity to celebrate St. Mary School. Guest speaker will be John Green (SMS 1990 graduate), the son of Daniel and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Green. All are welcome to attend.
