NOVEMBER

MONDAY (11/26)

l F.I.T. Walkabouts are exploring the available indoor walking options. On Monday, November 26, meet at Memorial Gymnasium at 11:35 a.m. Memorial Gym is available (when school is in session) Monday – Friday from 6:30 – 8:00 a.m. and during the students’ lunchtime – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11:35 a.m. – 12:05 p.m. and Wednesday 11:20 – 11:50 a.m. F.I.T. Walkabouts are sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. Information: 932-5974.

WEDNESDAY (11/28)

l Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Evonne Kuhn. Lori Kuhn will be co-hostess. Phyllis White will give devotions. Teola Carmony will give the lesson on “Something I Can Do for the Ones I Love.” Roll call: Favorite Thanksgiving food. Members are reminded to bring their secret pal information.          

THURSDAY (11/29)

l Indiana Blood Center blood drives, 2 – 6 p.m., Rush Memorial Hospital. l Walk with the Indianapolis Hiking Club as they visit Rushville with “Get Fit on the Fitness Trail”. Meet at 3:45 p.m. in the parking lot east of Rushville Consolidated High School. This F.I.T. Walkabout is sponsored by the Fitness Initiative Team of Rush County. Information: 932-5974.



DECEMBER

SATURDAY (12/1)

l The Rush County Chorale Holiday Concerts. Concert dates are 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the RCHS Laughlin Center. Tickets may be purchased for $6 from any chorale member or send an e-mail with subject line TICKETS with the number of tickets you need to rushcountychorale@gmail.com and someone will get back to you with information needed for the purchase.

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l Changing Footprints First Annual Trivia Night, 201 Building. Doors open 6 p.m., game begins at 7 p.m. $20 per person, 8 to a table. Each table is team. Reservations and payment: 765-932-4762 or info@changingfootprints.com. Must be 21. Prizes.

l Knights of Columbus Chicken Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. Adults $9 and children $6. Carryouts available. Menu includes: Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce and cake. All white meat $1 extra. Open to the public.

SUNDAY (12/2)

l Rush County Bikers Toys for Tots 20th Annual Chili Dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at Rushville Elks Lodge. All you can eat. Everyone is welcome. Santa will be there from noon to 1 p.m. $5 per person and 12 and under free. Tickets on sale now from members or at Admiral Gas Station. 50/50 drawing and lots of door prizes.

WEDNESDAY (12/5)

l 25th Annual Christmas Bazaar from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Rush County Senior Citizens Services, 504 W. Third St. Held in conjunction with the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes. Craft booths, refreshments, door prizes. Open to the public. Information: 932-2935. Reservations for booth space available. Call by Nov. 29.

THURSDAY (12/6)

RCHS Madrigals Dinner, Thursday, Dec. 6 through Sun., Dec. 9, Rush County Courthouse. Information: 932-3901.

FRIDAY (12/7)

l Dance for elementary school age children, 6 to 8 p.m., Boys & Girls Club of Rush County. $3 per person. DJ. Kevin Green. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club.

TUESDAY (12/11)

l RCHS Band Christmas Concert, 7 p.m., Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts.

WEDNESDAY (12/12)

l RCHS Choirs Winter Concert, 7:30 p.m., Laughlin Center for the Performing Arts featuring all five choirs. Concert is free and the public is invited.

FRIDAY (12/14)

l Rush County Players Christmas production, Miracle on 34th Street. Show dates are 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 and 15 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. Mary’s School, 226 E. 5th St. Rushville. Tickets are currently available through the cast or the Board of Directors. You may call Rush County Players at 765-938-1711 to reserve yours today!

SATURDAY (12/15)

l Come join us for Christmas dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Fellowship Hall at Wesley United Methodist Church, corner of 8th and North Ft. Wayne Road in Rushville. This is a free dinner. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come join us to give thanks for all our blessings. Donation of a canned food would be appreciated for the food pantry.

TUESDAY (12/18)

l Main Street Christian Church Manna Mission Meal, 615 N. Main St., offers a free hot meal and fellowship with our friends in need from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. December’s dinner has been changed from the last Tuesday of the month. Carry-out available. JANUARY

SATURDAY (1/12)

l Annual Community Tenderloin Supper to support the RCHS Band programs, 4:30 to 7 p.m., RCHS cafeteria. $6 in advance from any band student or $7 at the door. We will be serving tenderloin, hot

dogs, scalloped potatoes, green beans, slaw, apple sauce, desserts and drinks. Everyone is invited to attend and help support the RCHS bands before the boy’s basketball game that evening.

TUESDAY (1/15)

l Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. in the RCHS cafeteria. A representative from the Financial Aid Office at Franklin College will be here to discuss the process of filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  In addition, other financial aid information will be available to parents concerning applying for scholarships and grants.



MISCELLANEOUS

l Tox-away Days are the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at Smiley Avenue. Join in making this a Clean, Green Rush County.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l The community food pantry, 109 East Third Street, Rushville is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Bring photo ID. Donations welcomed.

l Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown. Use the east entrance at the corner of Adams and Locust streets. Information: 765-313-1637.

l Diabetes education classes are held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first, second, and third Tuesday of each month at Rush Memorial Hospital Skills Lab, second floor. Cost, $10 per class with a $25 refund if all three classes are attended. Info: 765-932-7416 or dena.bills@rushmemorial.com

l Partners for a Healthy Rush County meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Boys & Girls Club. Open to all interested businesses, organizations or individuals in Rush County.

l AA and Al-Anon meet at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

l Crossroads Serenity Group, an Al-Anon group, meets from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday at 333 N. Main Street, Rushville. Information: Gail at 317-642-9112 or Larry at 765-277-9477.

l A dance at the Raleigh Community Club is held from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. every Saturday. Everyone welcomed.

l Veterans, if you have an appointment at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis call (765) 932-3075, seven to 10 days in advance, to arrange a ride in the DAV van. Veterans who need a ride sooner call (765) 561-5445 or (765) 932-2703.

l Rush County Victims Assistance, Inc., monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For location contact the office at 938-1555. The public always is invited. Info: Barbara Kuhn at 938-1555.

l A parent support group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Rushville Public Library meeting room. This group is for parents, guardians, caregivers or any family member of someone with mental or physical challenges. Those attending the group decide the topics.     l Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk Mayor’s 5K Run/Walk supporting Autism Awareness. The course for Mayor Pavey’s Run/Walk will exhibit the trails of the Rushville Parks and Recreation Department.     l Beta Sigma Phi sorority will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Conservation Club. All proceed will be donated to Rushville Memorial Hospital’s Kedo’s Kids pediatric center fund.
    l St. Mary Catholic School annual Green and White Gala.  The Gala is an opportunity to celebrate St. Mary School. Guest speaker will be John Green (SMS 1990 graduate), the son of Daniel and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Green. All are welcome to attend.
