OCTOBER

FRIDAY (10/19)

l Dance for K to 6, 6 to 8 p.m., Boys & Girls Club of Rush County. $3 per person. DJ Kevin Green.

l One Voice Gospel Group will be having a ham & bean dinner from 5 to 7 p.m., at Second Baptist Church, 520 E. Seventh St., Rushville. Cost is $5. Menu includes ham & beans, cornbread, drinks and dessert. Dine in or carry out. Bring your bowls for carry out. Proceeds will benefit a trip to Lima Ohio Civic Center Gospel Fest where they will be singing Oct. 27.

l Girls Softball League benefit dance at Rushville K of C. 6 to 7:30 p.m., K to 6; 7:30 to 9 p.m., middle schoolers; 9 to 11:30 p.m., adults. $5 per person. Costume party with prizes. Silent auction. Concessions.

SATURDAY (10/20)

l Family-friendly country dance, 8 to 11 p.m. at the Manilla Lions Club on SR 44. Admission $5 for adults, 12 and under free.

l Third Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Zumba-Thon, 1 to 4 p.m, 306 N. Main St., Rushville. Zumba-Thon includes 25 plus vendors, food and fun. Cost is $20 for T-Shirt and Zumba party, $5 for just the party or $15 for just the T-Shirt. 100 percent of all proceeds go to Brian’s Cause. Information: Carrie Simmermon at 765-993-0117.

l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County annual wine tasting and auction fundraising event begins at 6 p.m. at the 201 Building located at 201 North Main Street. A limited number of tickets are still available. l The Boys & Girls Club of Rush County will now be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

l Work Day at the Rush County Historical Society’s Gowdy House Museum at 9 a.m. Help is needed in tearing down the backyard playhouse and cleaning up areas in the carriage house.

l Rushville K of C chicken fry, 5 to 8 p.m. Open to the public. $9 adults, $6 kids; $1 extra for all white meat. Dine-in or carry-out.

SUNDAY (10/21)

l Rushville Elks #1307 Sunday Brunch. Every Sunday’s from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., buffet style all you can eat. Meal comes with choice of tea, lemonade, orange juice or coffee. Open to the public. Senior discount. Reservations accepted.

MONDAY (10/22)

l The Rush County Chorale practices at 7 p.m. in the RCHS choir room. All current members, past members and new vocalists are invited to attend. The Chorale will present the winter program Dec. 1 and 2 at the Laughlin Center. Practices will continue at 7 p.m. Mondays.

TUESDAY (10/23)

l Main Street Christian Church, 615 N. Main Street, will be offering a free hot meal and fellowship with our friends in need on the last Tuesday of every month from 6 to 8 p.m. Carry-out available. Contact the church at 932-2997 for more info.

WEDNESDAY (10/24)

l Manilla Town & Country Homemakers Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the home of Teola Carmony. Phyllis White will serve as co-hostess. Nancy Kuhn will give devotions. Roll Call: What was the

last book you read? Kathy Wright will give a program, “Improving Your Health by Increasing Your Health Literacy.” Members are reminded to bring monetary donations for the food pantry.        

THURSDAY (10/25)

l Rush County Schools fall break Oct. 25 and 26. No school.

l Gib Young, well known Teddy Roosevelt interpreter, will present the program at the fall annual meeting of the Rush County Historical Society at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the 201 Building. l Halloween Bash, 8 p.m. to midnight at the American Legion in Rushville. All proceeds go to Rush County Rider’s Toys for Tots. Join in karaoke, dancing, a costume contest and a live auction.

l Skylar’s Journey Costume Party from 6 to 9 p.m. for kids and until ? for adults at the Knights of Columbus. Cover charge is free-will donation. All proceeds going to Skylar’s Journey.
